Sometimes we take a wrong turn in our lives and we need to begin again. Reconciliation or Confession is the Sacrament of pardon and peace. ‍ In Confession the Holy Spirit lifts the burden of sin from us and restores our relationship with the Father and the Church. In Confession we receive the forgiveness of our sins and the grace of a new beginning. A Catholic confesses his or her sins to a priest in the spirit of true repentance and receives forgiveness. The priest acts as a visible representative of Christ, who forgives sins through Him, when he says the words of absolution: ‘I absolve you of your sins in the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.’

A guide to prepare for confession can be found on the Catholic Church of England & Wales website: https://www.cbcew.org.uk/home/our-work/catechesis/confession/

Confessions usually take place after the Sunday 9am mass on request.
